FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTMENT United States v. Jeffrey Epstein Case No. 19-cr-490 (S.D.N.Y.) On July 6, 2019, Jeffrey Epstein was arrested at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey upon his return from Paris. On July 8, 2019, a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York returned a two-count indictment charging Epstein with: COUNT ONE: Sex Trafficking of Minors (18 U.S.C. § 1591) COUNT TWO: Conspiracy to Engage in Sex Trafficking of Minors (18 U.S.C. § 1594) INDICTMENT ALLEGATIONS: - Between 2002 and 2005, Epstein sexually exploited and abused dozens of minor girls at his residences in Manhattan and Palm Beach - Epstein created a vast network of underage victims for him to sexually exploit - He used employees and associates to recruit victims - He paid victims hundreds of dollars in cash for each encounter - He incentivized victims to recruit additional underage girls MAXIMUM PENALTIES: - Each count carried a maximum sentence of 45 years in prison PROSECUTION TEAM: The case was prosecuted by the Public Corruption Unit of the SDNY U.S. Attorney's Office, led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys. Epstein pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on July 8, 2019. He was denied bail on July 18, 2019 and remained in custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center until his death on August 10, 2019.
