PALM BEACH COUNTY GRAND JURY PRESENTMENT Date: May 2006 The Palm Beach County Grand Jury returned a single charge of solicitation of prostitution against Jeffrey Epstein. BACKGROUND: - Palm Beach Police had investigated Epstein for over a year - Police identified at least 20 minor victims - Police Chief Michael Reiter recommended charges of lewd and lascivious molestation - State Attorney Barry Krischer presented the case to the grand jury - Police alleged the presentation was inadequate and deliberately minimized RESULT: - Single count of solicitation of prostitution (adult charge) - No charges related to minors - Police Chief Reiter took the unusual step of writing to the State Attorney expressing disagreement This outcome led to the FBI taking over the investigation.
