FRENCH PROSECUTION — JEAN-LUC BRUNEL / EPSTEIN INVESTIGATION Source: Parquet de Paris / French Ministry of Justice On December 16, 2020, French authorities arrested Jean-Luc Brunel at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he attempted to board a flight to Senegal. The arrest came after a preliminary investigation opened in August 2019 by the Paris prosecutor's office following Jeffrey Epstein's death. CHARGES AGAINST BRUNEL: - Rape of minors by a person in a position of authority - Sexual harassment - Participation in a sex trafficking enterprise - Sex trafficking of minors for sexual exploitation INVESTIGATION SCOPE: The French investigation examined: - Allegations that Epstein and Brunel abused young women at Epstein's apartment on Avenue Foch, Paris - Brunel's role in recruiting young models from France and other countries - The operations of MC2 Model Management and its connection to Epstein - Financial transactions between Epstein and Brunel - Testimony from victims who described being abused in France CONTEXT: French authorities opened their investigation after Virginia Giuffre and other victims publicly alleged that abuse had occurred on French soil. The investigation was conducted by the Office central pour la répression de la traite des êtres humains (Central Office for the Suppression of Human Trafficking). Brunel was found dead in his cell at La Santé prison in Paris on February 19, 2022, prior to trial. His death was ruled a suicide.
