PASSPORT ANOMALIES:
EXPIRED FOREIGN PASSPORT:
During the July 2019 FBI search of Epstein's Manhattan residence, agents discovered in his safe an expired passport issued by a foreign country:
- The passport contained Epstein's photograph
- It was issued under a name different from "Jeffrey Epstein"
- The passport listed a country of residence other than the United States
- It had been issued in the 1980s and contained entry stamps from multiple countries
U.S. PASSPORT RECORDS:
State Department records for Epstein's U.S. passport showed:
- Multiple passport renewals over several decades
- Extensive international travel to countries including:
- United Kingdom (frequent)
- France (frequent)
- Various Caribbean nations
- Middle Eastern countries
- African countries
- Travel patterns consistent with the flight log records
QUESTIONS RAISED:
The discovery of the foreign passport raised numerous questions:
- How was the passport obtained?
- What purpose did a fraudulent identity document serve?
- Were intelligence agencies involved in its issuance?
- Was it used for travel to countries where Epstein might have wished to conceal his identity?
PROSECUTORS' USE:
Federal prosecutors cited the foreign passport in their bail arguments as evidence that Epstein posed a flight risk. The passport demonstrated access to false identity documents and international resources that could facilitate flight from the jurisdiction.
