SUPERSEDING INDICTMENT The Grand Jury charges: BACKGROUND At all times relevant to this Indictment, GHISLAINE MAXWELL, the defendant, was an associate and longtime companion of Jeffrey Epstein. From at least in or about 1994 through at least in or about 2004, MAXWELL assisted, facilitated, and participated in Epstein's sexual abuse of minor girls. COUNT ONE — CONSPIRACY TO ENTICE MINORS TO TRAVEL TO ENGAGE IN ILLEGAL SEX ACTS (18 U.S.C. § 371) 1. From at least in or about 1994, up to and including in or about 1997, GHISLAINE MAXWELL knowingly conspired with Jeffrey Epstein and others to entice and coerce minors to travel in interstate and foreign commerce to engage in illegal sexual activity. COUNT TWO — ENTICEMENT OF A MINOR TO TRAVEL TO ENGAGE IN ILLEGAL SEX ACTS (18 U.S.C. §§ 2422(a) and 2) 2. From at least in or about 1994, up to and including in or about 1997, MAXWELL enticed and recruited Minor Victim-1, who was under the age of 18, to travel from her home state to Epstein's residences in New York, New Mexico, and Florida. COUNT THREE — CONSPIRACY TO TRANSPORT MINORS WITH INTENT TO ENGAGE IN CRIMINAL SEXUAL ACTIVITY (18 U.S.C. § 371) 3. From at least in or about 1994 through at least in or about 2004, MAXWELL conspired with Epstein and others to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. COUNT FOUR — TRANSPORTATION OF A MINOR WITH INTENT TO ENGAGE IN CRIMINAL SEXUAL ACTIVITY (18 U.S.C. §§ 2423(a) and 2) 4. MAXWELL transported Minor Victim-2, who was under 18, across state lines for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual activity. COUNT FIVE — SEX TRAFFICKING CONSPIRACY (18 U.S.C. § 1591(d)) 5. From at least in or about 2001 through at least in or about 2004, MAXWELL conspired with Epstein and others to recruit, entice, harbor, transport, provide, obtain, and maintain minors, knowing they would be caused to engage in commercial sex acts. COUNT SIX — SEX TRAFFICKING OF A MINOR (18 U.S.C. §§ 1591(a)(1), (b)(2), and 2) 6. MAXWELL recruited, enticed, and maintained Minor Victim-4 for sexual exploitation. PERJURY COUNTS Counts Seven and Eight charge MAXWELL with perjury for false testimony given under oath in depositions conducted in April 2016.
