GOVERNMENT'S SENTENCING MEMORANDUM Case: USA v. Maxwell, No. 20-cr-330 (S.D.N.Y.) The Government respectfully requests that the Court sentence the defendant, Ghislaine Maxwell, to a term of imprisonment between 360 months and 660 months (30-55 years). CONVICTION: On December 29, 2021, a jury found Maxwell guilty on five of six counts: - Count 1: Conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts (GUILTY) - Count 2: Enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts (NOT GUILTY) - Count 3: Conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity (GUILTY) - Count 4: Transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity (GUILTY) - Count 5: Sex trafficking conspiracy (GUILTY) - Count 6: Sex trafficking of a minor (GUILTY) GOVERNMENT ARGUMENTS: - Maxwell was instrumental in Epstein's scheme - She acted as a recruiter, groomer, and participant - Victims suffered devastating and lasting harm - Maxwell has shown no remorse or acceptance of responsibility - Her conduct spanned approximately a decade - She occupied a position of trust that she exploited ACTUAL SENTENCE: Judge Nathan sentenced Maxwell to 20 years imprisonment on June 28, 2022.
