v.
JEFFREY EPSTEIN, Defendant.
INDICTMENT
The Grand Jury charges:
COUNT ONE: Sex Trafficking Conspiracy
(Title 18, United States Code, Section 1591)
COUNT TWO: Sex Trafficking
(Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1591 and 1594)
OVERVIEW:
From at least 2002 up to and including 2005, JEFFREY EPSTEIN, the defendant, sexually exploited and abused dozens of minor girls at his homes in Manhattan, New York and Palm Beach, Florida, among other locations.
EPSTEIN created a vast network of underage victims for him to sexually exploit, often recruiting them through other victims. In doing so, EPSTEIN worked with employees and associates who facilitated his conduct by, among other things, contacting victims and scheduling visits, ensuring that minor victims were available for sexual encounters at EPSTEIN's residences.
EPSTEIN paid victims hundreds of dollars in cash for each encounter. EPSTEIN knew that many of his victims were minors.
This indictment was filed following Epstein's arrest on July 6, 2019 at Teterboro Airport, NJ.
The case was abated following Epstein's death on August 10, 2019.
