WHITE HOUSE VISITOR LOGS AND RECORDS MENTIONING JEFFREY EPSTEIN
This document set comprises records obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests submitted to the United States Secret Service regarding White House visitor logs and related access records that reference Jeffrey Edward Epstein or known associates. The FOIA request sought all records of visits, access requests, and related correspondence documenting any contacts between Epstein or his associates and the White House complex.
VISITOR LOG RECORDS: The Secret Service FOIA release included records from the White House Workers and Visitors Entry System (WAVES) database, which tracks all individuals entering the White House complex. The released records documented instances in which Jeffrey Epstein visited the White House during the 1990s. Records confirmed multiple visits during the Clinton administration, consistent with publicly reported connections between Epstein and President Bill Clinton.
The visitor log entries included standard fields such as the visitor's name, date and time of entry, the name of the person visited or the office to which the visitor was cleared, badge number assigned, and departure time. Certain entries were redacted under FOIA exemptions related to personal privacy (Exemption 6) and law enforcement purposes (Exemption 7C).
SCOPE OF RECORDS: The FOIA request encompassed records from multiple presidential administrations. The Secret Service response indicated that visitor log retention policies varied across administrations and that certain records may have been transferred to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) under the Presidential Records Act, 44 U.S.C. sections 2201-2209. Requesters were directed to submit separate FOIA requests to NARA for records falling under the Presidential Records Act.
ASSOCIATE REFERENCES: In addition to records directly naming Jeffrey Epstein, the FOIA request sought records mentioning known Epstein associates including Ghislaine Maxwell, Jean-Luc Brunel, Sarah Kellen, Lesley Groff, and Nadia Marcinkova. The release included limited records referencing some of these individuals, though the scope of the responsive documents was narrower than anticipated due to the visitor log retention issues and applicable FOIA exemptions.
PROCESSING AND EXEMPTIONS: The Secret Service applied multiple FOIA exemptions in processing the request, including Exemption 1 (classified national security information), Exemption 3 (information protected by statute), Exemption 6 (personal privacy), and Exemption 7 (law enforcement records). Several pages were withheld in full, and the requester was advised of their right to file an administrative appeal with the Department of Homeland Security FOIA Appeals Office.
The release of these records contributed to ongoing public scrutiny of Jeffrey Epstein's connections to political figures and raised questions about the extent of his access to government institutions despite his 2008 conviction for solicitation of prostitution involving a minor in Palm Beach County, Florida.
