FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT RELEASE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF STATE EPSTEIN PASSPORT RECORDS AND TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION This document set comprises records obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests submitted to the United States Department of State regarding passport records and travel documentation associated with Jeffrey Edward Epstein. The FOIA release revealed significant details about Epstein's international travel patterns and the possession of multiple passport documents. PASSPORT RECORDS: The State Department FOIA release confirmed that Jeffrey Epstein held a valid United States passport and disclosed records related to his extensive international travel. During the July 2019 bail hearing before Judge Richard M. Berman in the Southern District of New York, Case No. 1:19-cr-00490-RMB, prosecutors presented evidence that a search of Epstein's Manhattan residence at 9 East 71st Street had uncovered a second passport. This passport, which was Austrian, contained Epstein's photograph but bore a different name and listed a Saudi Arabian residential address. The discovery of the Austrian passport was cited by prosecutors in their detention memorandum as evidence of Epstein's flight risk. The government argued that an individual with multiple passports, access to private aircraft, and substantial financial resources posed an unacceptable risk of flight. Judge Berman agreed and denied bail on July 18, 2019. TRAVEL PATTERNS: The FOIA release included records showing Jeffrey Epstein's extensive international travel, including frequent trips to the United States Virgin Islands, where Epstein owned two private islands, Great St. James and Little St. James, in the territory. Records also documented travel to France, where Epstein maintained an apartment at 22 Avenue Foch in Paris, and to the United Kingdom, where Epstein visited Ghislaine Maxwell's London residence. Flight records obtained through separate FOIA requests to the Federal Aviation Administration and cross-referenced with passport entry records showed that Epstein frequently used his private aircraft, including a Boeing 727 registered as N908JE and commonly referred to in media reporting as the Lolita Express, as well as smaller aircraft including a Gulfstream and a Cessna. Pilot logs and flight manifests obtained through litigation and FOIA requests documented passengers aboard these aircraft, including prominent political, business, and entertainment figures. The passport records also revealed travel to locations relevant to the criminal investigation, including trips to New Mexico, where Epstein owned the Zorro Ranch property near Stanley, and travel patterns consistent with the periods during which victims alleged they were transported across state and international lines for purposes of sexual exploitation, conduct that formed the basis of the sex trafficking charges.
