FBI FOIA RELEASE — PART 02
FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, FOIA/PA REQUEST
The second batch of FBI records released under the Freedom of Information Act regarding Jeffrey Epstein contains additional investigative documents, internal analyses, and administrative records. This release expanded upon the materials made available in Part 01 and provided further documentation of the FBI's involvement in the Epstein investigation across multiple phases and jurisdictions.
ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATIVE MATERIALS:
Part 02 includes supplementary investigative reports generated by FBI agents in the Miami and New York Field Offices. These reports document follow-up interviews with previously identified victims and witnesses, as well as new leads developed during the course of the investigation. The materials include agent notes, analytical summaries, and supervisory review documents reflecting the Bureau's assessment of the evidence.
DOCUMENTATION OF THE 2019 INVESTIGATION:
A significant portion of the Part 02 release pertains to the reopened investigation that culminated in Epstein's arrest on July 6, 2019, at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. These documents include planning materials, surveillance records, and coordination memoranda prepared in advance of the arrest. The records reflect the involvement of the FBI New York Field Office, the Public Corruption Unit of the Southern District of New York, and the Department of Justice.
VICTIM OUTREACH RECORDS:
The second FOIA batch includes records related to FBI efforts to identify and contact additional victims following Epstein's 2019 arrest. These documents show that the Bureau established dedicated tip lines and victim outreach programs, resulting in the identification of numerous previously unknown victims. The records reflect coordination with victim advocacy organizations and the assignment of FBI Victim Specialists to the case.
REDACTIONS AND EXEMPTIONS:
As with Part 01, the Part 02 documents contain substantial redactions under applicable FOIA exemptions. Certain pages are withheld in their entirety, particularly those relating to ongoing investigations, grand jury material protected under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 6(e), and information identifying cooperating witnesses.
