BACKGROUND:
The Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law in November 2025, mandated the release of federal government records related to Jeffrey Epstein within 180 days. This release represents the DOJ's compliance with that mandate.
RELEASE CONTENTS:
The DOJ release includes previously restricted records from:
1. FBI INVESTIGATION FILES
- Additional investigative reports from the 2006-2008 Florida investigation
- Supplemental interview summaries and witness statements
- Intelligence assessments and inter-agency communications
2. U.S. ATTORNEY RECORDS
- Internal deliberation memoranda regarding prosecution decisions
- Communications between SDFL and Main Justice regarding the NPA
- Previously sealed correspondence between parties
3. BUREAU OF PRISONS RECORDS
- Additional MCC records related to Epstein's detention and death
- Internal communications regarding housing and supervision decisions
- Staff reports and incident documentation
4. PROSECUTION FILES (SDNY)
- Additional materials from the 2019 prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein
- Grand jury materials authorized for release by court order
- Evidence inventories and chain of custody documentation
REDACTIONS:
Certain information was redacted pursuant to:
- Ongoing investigation protections
- Grand jury secrecy requirements (where court orders were not obtained)
- Privacy protections for minor victims
- National security classifications (subject to review)
